Celebrating Victory and Remembering Heroes
As we approach the 102nd anniversary of the Great Victory, celebrated on August 30, we take this opportunity to honor our eternal leader, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the heroic figures of the Turkish War of Independence. This acknowledgment not only reflects our national pride but also serves as a heartfelt tribute to our martyrs and deceased veterans who have dedicated their lives to protect our homeland.
In commemorating August 30th, various celebrations are set to occur across the country. Among these, a grand parade in Ankara will showcase the might of our armed forces. Simultaneously, the Turkish Navy will open the doors of 22 of its ports to the public, allowing citizens to engage with our naval capabilities. Furthermore, display flights by the Turkish Stars in Ankara and the Solo Türk team in Istanbul are scheduled, promising spectacular spectacles that highlight our military aviation excellence.
Cultural Initiatives and Community Engagement
In addition to military displays, concerts by the Orchestra and Mehteran Units will take place in Afyonkarahisar and Ankara, enhancing the festive atmosphere of the National Defense Day celebrations. A series of band concerts across multiple provinces initiated on August 26 will continue until September 9, inviting the public to appreciate our military music culture.

The Ministry of National Defense invites everyone to join in this joyful occasion, celebrating the Turkish Armed Forces Day and the spirit of the Great Victory together.
Operations Against Terrorism
Switching the focus to national security, Rear Admiral Aktürk emphasized the ongoing operations against terrorism, particularly in northern Iraq and Syria. In an ongoing effort to eliminate terror threats, Turkish Armed Forces have successfully neutralized 1,828 terrorists since the beginning of the year, a remarkable achievement that showcases the effectiveness of our security strategies. Notably, 65 terrorists were neutralized just last week, underlining the continuous pressure enforced on terror networks.
Additionally, one PKK terrorist surrendered to Turkish forces last week, representing a significant milestone in our effort to combat terrorism. These operations exemplify the unwavering commitment of the Turkish Armed Forces in securing our borders and ensuring public safety.
Border Security Measures
The importance of border security was also highlighted during the briefing. The Ministry reported the apprehension of 394 individuals attempting to cross the border illegally in the past week alone. Since January 1, this number has risen significantly, highlighting the relentless effort to maintain security along our borders amidst external threats. Since the beginning of the year, over 72,000 individuals have been prevented from illegally crossing our borders.
International Cooperation and Milestones
On an international front, the Ministry of National Defense has been active in strengthening relationships and enhancing cooperation with allied nations. This includes hosting significant naval exercises and participating in multinational defense initiatives. Not only does this reinforce Turkey’s role as a key player in global security, but it also provides essential training opportunities for our personnel.
Furthermore, the Ministry recently engaged with dignitaries from ally nations, reflecting our collaborative approach to regional stability and security.
Advancements in National Defense
As part of enhancing national defense capabilities, the Turkish defense industry continues to evolve, introducing new weapons systems and military technologies. The recent delivery of the Piri Reis submarine and advancements in the naval operations underscore the strategic steps taken to bolster our naval defense.
The Path Forward
Looking to the future, the Ministry remains committed to achieving greater efficiency and effectiveness in its operations. Recruitment and personnel training programs at military academies are ongoing, with new cadets being welcomed to enhance the ranks of the Turkish Armed Forces.
In conclusion, the Ministry of National Defense is resolute in its mission to protect and serve the nation, demonstrating unwavering dedication to safeguarding our borders and promoting peace both domestically and internationally.
